Water Supply and Water Quality bond act for the November 2018 ballot

Proposition 3 will appear on the November 6, 2018, California statewide ballot. If enacted, Proposition 3 would fund $8.9 billion of investments in safe and reliable drinking water, regional infrastructure improvements, groundwater sustainability, and watershed restoration, among other funding priorities.

Key Proposition 3 investments for the San Joaquin Valley:

  • $750 million for improvements in San Joaquin Valley water conveyance infrastructure, such as the Friant-Kern and Madera canals

  • $750 million for safe drinking water and wastewater treatment for valley disadvantaged communities

  • $640 million for projects to help comply with state groundwater regulations

  • $1.05 billion for Central Valley native fish restoration

  • $100 million for fish screens in the Central Valley

  • $280 million for waterfowl/refuge improvements

  • $100 million Central Valley flood protection

  • $2500 million for Sierra Navada watershed and forest management

  • $100 million for Oroville Dam spillway repair

  • $400 million for inland desalination

  • $300 million for urban water conservation

  • $20 million for the San Joaquin River Conservancy
